BROW AFTERCARE

Taking care of your fresh new brows

As with many things, your brows will only be as great as how well you take care of them.
To ensure proper healing and to get the best out of your appointment, please follow the instructions below:

  • No make-up application on the brows until all scabs have fallen off

  • No sun tanning, swimming or excessive sweating until brows are completely healed

  • No soap, moisturizers, creams or sunscreen on the brow area until brows are completely healed

  • Do not rub or pick at the dry flaky skin/scabs

  • Apply a thin layer of Zensa healing cream/coconut oil/grape seed oil/vitamin E if the brow area feels itchy or is dry and flaky. Maximum application is no more than 2x a day

It is important to keep the brow area dry and clean until all scabs have fallen off. Use a GENTLE cleanser to wash the face and keep the brow area clean. Do not rub brows to dry, instead, gently pat dry. This is known as the dry-healing method.

Minimal water on the brow area is fine, however, avoid prolonged exposure to water. Please refrain from excessive sweating, sun tanning, swimming, saunas or steam rooms.

Please also take note of what to expect during the healing process*:

  • Swelling and redness is normal for the first few days. To relieve the swelling, you can ice the area with soft gel ice packs

  • Slight stinging sensation around the brow area in the first few days is also normal

  • Your eyebrows will start to form scabs and will begin to darken and thicken

  • Peeling, flaking and crusting of the skin may occur. It is normal for your eyebrows to appear patchy

  • As the skin heals, the scabs will become itchy and begin to fall off, appearing patchy. It may also appear that the microstrokes and pigment have faded or disappeared. This is completely normal. The colour will fade approximately 30-50% when the scabs fall off. Do not be discouraged if the fading is more than you expected as the pigment will resurface and become darker 1-2 weeks after ALL the scabs fall off. The thickness of the brows may also decrease by 1-2mm. This is why it is recommended to book a touch-up AT LEAST 5 weeks after the initial appointment. To achieve the perfect brows, we need to see how your skin accepts the initial application. The touch-up appointment is where we will perfect the brows

Due to the uniqueness of you and your skin, everyone will heal differently. Please be patient with the process!

A follow-up touch-up appointment is usually necessary and can be completed any time after 5 weeks from the initial appointment.
