BROWS
What are microblading, microshading and ombré brows?
Microblading is a form of semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing that mimics natural eyebrow hairs. A disposable microblade is used to create fine cuts (microstrokes) and implant pigment into the skin. This technique creates hair-like strokes that look crisp, beautiful and natural.

Microshading or ombré brows are also semi-permanent cosmetic procedures that heal to a soft, powdery finish. Microshading uses a manual hand tool to create a gradient effect on the brows, whereas ombré brows requires a handheld digital machine. Both technique result in a filled-in makeup look that can either be natural and soft OR beautiful bold depending on the client’s preference.

What are combo brows?
Combo brows (combination brows) involve the use of both microblading and microshading/ombré powder brows to create fluffy and defined brows.

How do semi-permanent cosmetic tattoos differ from permanent tattoos?
The depth in which pigment is deposited into the skin is one of the main differences between semi-permanent cosmetic tattoos and permanent tattoos. Semi-permanent cosmetic tattoos deposit pigment within the epidermis layer of the skin, just above the upper layer of the dermis. Permanent tattoos are deposited deeper into the skin beyond the dermis layer. For this reason, semi-permanent cosmetic tattoos last 1-3 years whereas permanent tattoos last a lifetime.

The type of pigment used for these procedures also differ. Semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo pigments are usually carbon or iron oxide based, mixed with auxiliary ingredients such as glycerine, alcohol and distilled water. This combination of ingredients allows the colour of the pigments to gradually fade out over time.

Is the procedure painful?
Pain level varies according to each individual’s pain threshold and response to anesthetics. A topical numbing agent and secondary numbing are used throughout the procedure.

The following may increase pain levels:
• Alcohol consumption in the past 48 hours of the procedure
• Caffeine consumption before the procedure
• Inadequate sleep in the past few days
• Menstrual cycle
How long does the procedure take?
Generally, the procedure takes about 3-3.5hours. The first half of the appointment involves the consultative component and numbing while the second half involves the actual procedure. We will work together to create and perfect your ideal shape and colour, and will not begin the procedure until you are satisfied with the brow mapping.

How long do the results last?
Colour retention varies according to each individual. Typically, results last 1-3 years. However, as these are semi-permanent procedures, the results will fade over time and may require a touch-up every 6-12 months to maintain results.

Clients who are or have the following may experience the pigment to fade quicker and may need a more frequent touch-up:
• Oily skin
• Skin complications such as eczema, psoriasis, keratosis pilaris and dermatitis (or any condition that results in constant flaking, itching or aggravated skin), chronic acne or rosacea
• Excessive exposure to sunlight
• Chemical peels, Retin A, Hydroxyl (Glycolic) Acid or any other peeling agents on or around the brow area
• Diabetic
• Anemic
• Iron deficient
• High blood pressure

What happens to my brows after my appointment?
It is important to note the following after the procedure:
• Mild swelling, itchiness, redness, or tenderness that lasts a few hours to a few days.
• Your brows start to form scabs and will begin to darken and thicken. Peeling, flaking and crusting of the skin may occur. It is normal for your eyebrows to appear patchy
• The colour will fade approximately 30-50% when the scabs fall off. Do not be discouraged if the fading is more than you expected as the pigment will resurface and become darker 1-2 weeks after ALL the scabs fall off.
• It is important to keep the brow area dry and clean until all scabs have fallen off. This is known as the dry-healing method. You are allowed to use a GENTLE cleanser to wash the face and keep the brow area clean. Minimal water on the brow area is fine, however, avoid prolonged exposure to water. Do not rub brows to dry, instead, please gently pat dry. Please refrain from excessive sweating, sun tanning, swimming, saunas or steam rooms

What if I have previous brow work done from another artist?
Touch-up rates are for current clients only. If there is previous work on your brows, you may be charged the regular rate AND/OR require multiple sessions as this will be considered corrective work. Prices are subject to change at any time.
If your brows have been previously worked on, please send pictures of your current brows to hello@thefabulushlab.com for assessment before booking an appointment. This may be considered corrective work and may result in multiple sessions.

LASHES
What are lash extensions?
Lash extensions is a beautiful way to enhance the fullness, thickness and curliness of your natural lashes. This service involves applying a synthetic/silk lash extension to a single isolated natural lash using a bonding adhesive. There are various lash extension techniques that achieve different looks:
• Volumes: Volume lash extensions is a technique that applies multiple lashes to one natural lash. Perfect for a full, fluffy and glamourous look.
• Classic: Classic lash extensions is a technique that applies 1 lash extension to each natural lash (1:1). Perfect for a natural and subtle look.
• Hybrids: Hybrid lash extensions is a technique that combines classic lashes (1:1) and volume lashes (lash fans). Perfect for a textured, full, but subtle look.
How long do lash extensions last?
Typically, the lash extensions may last 3-4 weeks. However, the time in which lash extensions last may vary due to multiple factors:
• Application: Proper application by a well-trained lash technician, quality products, and a controlled environment contribute to the lash extension retention.
• Aftercare: Aftercare is extremely important in ensuring both your natural lashes and lash extensions are clean and healthy. Proper aftercare will aid in better retention. Learn about aftercare here.

To maintain your lash extensions, it is recommended that you book a refill appointment every 2-3 weeks.

How do often should I refill and how do I take care of my lash extensions?
Refills are typically recommended every 2-3 weeks. Your lash extension will fall off with your natural lashes at the end of its life cycle (this is completely normal), and a new baby lash with grow in its place. Regular refills help to keep your lashes looking full and fabulous!
It is extremely important to clean and take care of your lashes after your appointment to ensure optimal lash health and retention. Learn about aftercare here.
